Though we love New York City any time of the year, fall feels particularly thrilling.

The city that never sleeps kicks into hyperdrive, with a slew of new plays, museum exhibitions, and restaurant openings to enjoy. Add in the perfect, crisp temps and it’s no wonder we fall more in love with the city each autumn. Want your perfect fall day in New York? KEY has you covered.

Soar Over the City as the Sun Rises

Kick-start your morning with a private helicopter ride, allowing you to see New York’s ever-changing, always-inspiring skyline like never before. As you fly over the Hudson, you’ll see Ellis Island, the Chrysler Building, and of course, Lady Liberty herself.

Walk the (High) Line

If the flight didn’t get your blood pumping enough, get caffeinated at Intelligentsia, a coffee bar tucked into the lobby of The High Line Hotel. Take yours to go while you stroll the High Line, a fantastic public park built on an old, abandoned rail line. It’s gorgeous, with its pockets of wildness and greenery overlooking the city streets below, and a truly brilliant use of urban space.

Get Your Culture On

Ask your KEY private driver to ferry you over to the Brooklyn Museum to see two very fine shows: Soulful Creatures: Animal Mummies in Ancient Egypt, a fascinating exploration of the religious purpose of animal mummies; and Proof: Francisco Goya, Sergei Eisenstein, Robert Longo, a show that spans, “four centuries and three continents,” highlighting how these three greats each chronicled their own complex cultural and political times. Afterwards, grab a bite to eat The Norm, located inside the Brooklyn Museum. Chef Saul Bolton’s menu draws its inspiration from the borough’s eclectic, global cuisine, with a space designed to mimic the museum’s secret storage areas. Or walk a few blocks over to the popular neighborhood Vietnamese eatery Banh Mi Place, where you can fuel up on Pho, sandwiches — like the savory grilled pork —and bubble tea.

Grab That Last Bit of Warmth While You Still Can

Head back to your room for a little R&R (you’ve earned it!). Our New York City Chef Concierge Li Tom suggests you take advantage of “the last breaths of sun-kissed air,” by visiting one of the city’s finest rooftop bars. Tom steered us to self-described “crazy bar,” The Roof, hotelier Ian Schrager’s new hot spot at his Lower East side Public Hotel. “It’s frequented by a multitude of A-list celebrities, fashion icons, and socialites,” Tom says, with an outside deck that offers the perfect spot to “see and be seen” while you drink cocktails and watch the sun set. She also loves The Office, “Michelin-starred chef Grant Achatz’s first foray in the Big Apple. Located off the lobby of the Mandarin Oriental on the 35th floor of the Time Warner Center, The Office does not offer a view but makes up [for it] with gorgeous tones of wood, leather, and accessories while boasting seamless hospitality and perfectly crafted cocktails.”

Curtains Up!

Now you’re relaxed and ready for your evening’s entertainment, with theater tickets procured by KEY. Three shows everyone’s talking about: The Band’s Visit, a musical about an Egyptian band stranded in Israel, starring the always-wonderful Tony Shalhoub; Meteor Shower, Steve Martin’s comedy starring the irrepressible Amy Schumer in her first-ever Broadway role; or, for those desiring a classic show, it’s your last chance to catch Bette Midler in her Tony Award-winning role in Hello, Dolly! The icon just announced that her last performance is January 14, 2018, so it’s now or never.

Linger Over A Late Dinner

Let us help with restaurant reservations. Li Tom says opt for dinner at Chef Dale Talde’s Rice & Gold, recently opened in the almost-equally-as-young 50 Bowery Hotel in Chinatown. “The dining room is massive, sporting boldly colored graffiti and accented with industrial elements of brass, exposed piping, and wood. The food is accessible, sophisticated, and serves innovative approaches to dim sum and Asian classics while sourcing flavors and influence from countries throughout the world.”

Kid-Friendly Activities

If you’re traveling with kids, KEY’s babysitter extraordinaire will spirit them around the city for a fun-filled day, keeping them happily occupied and then tucked back into bed at a reasonable hour.
